Aims & Objective

Every Catholic school in addition to their paramount responsibility of promoting academic pursuits of it’s scholars, acts as a faithful mission of the Church as well, to guide and lead its believers to attain salvation through education and practice in the faith. The Convent of Jesus and Mary School, Ambala which has been established by the Jesus and Mary, Ambala Educational Society, is a Christian Minority Institution, set up primarily for the education of the Catholic Community and the preservation of Catholic faith and religious practice.

Catholic girls are given preference for admission to the school. Admissions will, however, be open to girl children of other communities also without distinction of caste, creed, faith or linguistic group with all freedom to practice their faith in respect and dignity. With a view to preserving Catholic faith, classes in religion will be conducted and it will be obligatory for Catholic children to attend these classes. As already emphasised elsewhere a Catholic School is not simply a place where lessons are taught, it is a center with an operative educational philosophy, attentive to the needs of today’s youth and illumined by the Gospel message.

A thorough and exact knowledge of the real situation will suggest the best educational methods. The school stands for academic excellence, development of skills and character formation, based on the love of God and the service of man as modeled on the person of Jesus Christ. The primary aim of the teaching faculty of the Convent of Jesus and Mary is to make God known and loved, therefore, the spiritual development of all the pupils is their prime concern. The School is also particularly blessed to have the onerous responsibility of educating and empowering the comparatively weaker gender of the Society, especially in a Country like India where various unfounded prejudices and practices militates against female education and gender equality.

“When you educate a man, you educate an individual; When you educate a woman, you educate a whole family”, goes a famous statement of Mahatma Gandhi.
